Shannon Academy

The Shannon Academy is a school for learning English with teachers so adorable. It is situated in the heart of the town, next to the Shannon River.

Courses started at 10 a.m and finished at 1.15 p.m. We were with Annette in the classroom downstairs. We spoke different things of Ireland with her, like politics, economics, migrants or food... It was interesting!

Back to France!

On Monday 27th of June we left Athlone by bus CityLink at 11:30 a.m for a two-hour drive to Dublin. Then we arrived at the Dublin's airport where we had lunch at MacDonald's. After the lunch, we registred at the check-in desk, we waited for the plane which was late. We went up and we took place into the plane. The take-off was very quick, the journey too but the landing was a bit rough! We were so happy to see our families and friends again!

Athlone Institute of Technology

A.I.T was built in 1970. There are around 6000 students and the first sector studied is Business and the  second is Accounting.

In my office (International Office), on 500 students, 200 come from the E.U countries, 150 from China and 40 students from France.

Athlone Institute of Technology is not the largest of Ireland, the largest I.T is Dublin (D.I.T) which includes 20,000 students.

My tutor was Mary Simpson, she studied at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland and now she has been working for 16 years in A.I.T, from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m and she benefits from a 1-hour lunch break. Mary has already travelled to Beijing and Shanghai with students of A.I.T.

During my work placement, my tasks consisted in:

-Updating international parter information

-Using Excel spreadsheet for data collection

-Recording applications from new students coming to A.I.T

-Preparing mailshots to send out information about A.I.T Business School programmes

My work placement was GREAT and my colleagues very understanding.

Thank you very much Mary, Jackie, Eoin, Carmel, Karl and Mustafa for your kindness and your patience.

Bunratty Castle and St John's Castle

On Thursday 2nd of June, I visited with my collegue of the AIT two Castles during my work placement : Bunratty Castle and St John's Castel which are in Limerick

-The first is Bunratty, It was built in 1425. There are 3 parts: the Bunratty Castel, The Folk Park and the Village Street. I saw the living conditions of the people of the 15th century.

-The second is St John's Castle, located in the Centre of Limerick. It is next to St Mary's Cathedral. The Shannon river flows along the Castel which is very big-sized.

This day was great and I enjoyed.
